What is Pilates?

About Mind Body Pilates PDX

Meet Michelle

Michelle discovered Pilates as a way to manage lifelong back pain and became certified in 2018. After seven years of teaching, she opened Mind Body Pilates in Portland in 2025. She believes Pilates is for every body and creates an empowering environment where all clients feel successful. She has extensive experience supporting individuals with neurological conditions (MS, aphasia), scoliosis, post-cancer recovery, and those in larger bodies — though her classes welcome clients of all levels and abilities.


When she's not teaching, Michelle feeds her "pet" squirrel, Rooney, hunts down quirky Portland events, plans elaborate international birthday trips (yes, there's a difference between a trip and a vacation), and advocates for social justice.

NEW Duo Session - Partner Pilates for Couples & Friends

Beginner Pilates classes are designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of Pilates and help you build a strong foundation. You'll learn proper breathing techniques, alignment, and basic Pilates exercises that will help you improve your posture, increase your flexibility, and strengthen your core.

Intermediate Pilates Classes

Once you've mastered the basics, our intermediate Pilates classes will challenge you with more advanced exercises and variations. You'll continue to build strength and flexibility while working on more complex movements that will take your Pilates practice to the next level.

Private Pilates Sessions

Get personalized attention and guidance with private Pilates sessions. Whether you're recovering from an injury, looking to improve your athletic performance, or just want one-on-one instruction, Michelle will work with you to create a customized workout plan that meets your specific needs. Michelle offers experience in neurological issues such as MS and aphasia, scoliosis, postpartum moms and post cancer recovery. Weekdays lunchtime and Saturdays available.

Myofascial Release Foam Rolling Release tension and improve mobility. Learn to effectively use a foam roller and balls to alleviate everyday aches and pains by targeting the fascia-your body's weblike connective tissue. You'll learn safe techniques to unlock stiffness, enhance flexibility, and build a personalized self-care routine for lasting relief.
